Hand-Building Pottery Workshops
Discover the calming, tactile experience of shaping clay by hand in our relaxed, beginner-friendly pottery workshops. At Small Glaze, our hand-building sessions are designed to slow things down, encourage creativity, and help you reconnect with the joy of making.
Whether you're completely new to ceramics or looking to develop your creative confidence, our workshops offer a welcoming space to explore traditional pottery techniques in a calm and supportive environment.
Hosted at carefully selected venues across the West Midlands, our small-group workshops offer thoughtful guidance, quality materials, and a creative atmosphere that allows you to fully immerse yourself in the process.

What is Hand-Building Pottery?
Hand-building is one of the oldest and most intuitive ways of working with clay. Rather than using a potter's wheel, pieces are formed entirely by hand using traditional techniques such as pinching, coiling and slab building.
This method allows for complete creative freedom, making it perfect for beginners and experienced makers alike. Each workshop focuses on exploring form, texture and function, enabling you to create beautiful, personal ceramic that feel truly unique.
What You'll Create
During your workshop, you'll have the opportunity to create one or more ceramic pieces, depending on the session format.
Popular projects include:
-
Mugs and cups
-
Bowls and Dishes
-
Vases and Plant Pots
-
Decorative Sculptural Forms
-
Personal Keepsakes
Each piece is carefully, finished, dried, glazed and kiln-fired, ready for delivery once complete.
